Q: I have no prior education or experience as a health professional, am I still eligible to enroll in the CHEK Academy?
A: Yes! We welcome all people who are interested in starting or furthering their career as a Health Professional.
Q: I have a busy schedule, what is the time commitment required to complete my year at the CHEK Academy?
A: Outside of the scheduled Q&A’s and LIVE training sessions, you can excel in your courses with as little as 6 hours of dedicated study time per week.
Q: Are there any other perks to joining the Academy?
A: Yes. All Academy students receive a 15% on CHEK Products that are not included as part of the CHEK Academy.
Q: I am already a CHEK Practitioner Level 1 and HLC Level 1 and have purchased many of the pre-requisite courses for other levels. Do I need to re-take these courses and pay again?
A: No. In fact your Academy fees will be recalculated to remove the cost of those programs you’ve already completed! However you must hold current CHEK Status. Your current CHEK qualification will determine at which year you will enter the Academy.
Q: Do my Academy fees cover travel, lodging and eating expenses?
A: No, but they do cover all course materials. You will, however, be given a list of recommended accommodations and places to eat close to the venue.
Q: Do I pay extra to become part of the Academy?
A: No, the whole point of the Academy is that all the correspondence courses and live advanced training programs are heavily discounted off the regular price.
Q: Can I complete all my training in the first few months and pay it off over a year?
A: No, the payment process is not a buy-now-pay-later program. You must always be in front of payments before attending courses.
Q: I already hold other medical non CHEK Institute qualifications. Can I join the Academy at a higher year?
A: No. Regardless of current non-CHEK qualifications, all students must complete each year, starting with the first, before progressing to the next.
Q: I have friends who are interested in joining the academy. Is there a discount if more than one person applies for the Academy?
A: No. All applicants are assessed individually before being accepted into the Academy. There are no further discounts available.
Q: How does group mentoring work?
A: Academy group mentoring sessions are 90-minute, monthly online meetings conducted by an experienced CHEK Faculty member or CHEK Professional. They are designed to to help you apply specific Academy lessons in your practice and to answer your questions about what you’ve learned.
Q: If I get accepted into the Academy, but find I cannot attend one of the workshop weekends, do I get a refund for that workshop?
A: No. You will be required to attend the workshop at a later date.
Q: What if I join the Academy and cannot attend a Live Advanced Training Program?
A: Year 1 can be taken entirely online now, with the exception of a 1-day practical exam for IMS 1 at a local exam center.
However, for live courses, you must accept all course dates for the next 12 months before October 1st each year. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to attend one of these whilst in the Academy you may transfer to a later course, but only up to 90 days before the course start date. This transfer will be free of charge ONCE ONLY in your entire time within the CHEK Academy! You may only transfer once.
Q: Can I pay up front for all years of the Academy and get a further discount?
A: No, payment in advance is accepted but no further discounts apply.
Q: On completion of year 5, do I automatically become part of the CHEK Institute Faculty?
A: No, all applicants for Team CHEK or CHEK Faculty must formally apply directly to the CHEK Institute.
Q: What if, for some reason, I need to leave the Academy midterm?
A: You will pay a termination fee which will cover all the training you have received up to that point and that you are due to complete in the next 90 days, with no Academy discounts. The maximum you will be required to pay as a termination fee is the difference between attending the courses with the Academy and completing the courses separately without discounts.
Q: What if I cannot afford to pay 1 month’s fee for the Academy. Can I pay double next month?
A: No, your academy training will be put on hold. If this continues, you will be sent a termination invoice and will be dismissed from the Academy.
Q: Can I choose the location of the workshops and courses I wish to attend?
A: Yes, if there is availability on that course. Otherwise, you will be required to attend a workshop or live course where available.
Q: Must I complete the application process to be eligible for the scholarship?
A: If you have not yet enrolled in the Academy, yes. If you are already enrolled in the Academy, then you do not need to re-apply.
