Everyone likes having a nice-looking butt, but the best way to get a great-looking butt is to have a functional butt. The thing is, most trainers don’t know what exercise elements you’ll need to help you build a functional butt.
Earlier in my career, I did a lot of research using electromyography to learn how to make the butt muscles fire by doing all sorts of things, from steppers and bending to lunging and jumping.
Based on this research, I isolated two must-have elements for a functional butt exercise. In the video below, I’m going to share those elements with you, along with how to perform the Box Step Kick exercise — an example of a movement that incorporates these two key elements.
