  • The Biomechanics of the Spine
  • How to Evaluate a Client with Lumbo Pelvic Pain
  • Common Postural Syndromes
  • Upper Cervical Subluxation and Spinal Pathology
  • Advanced Sports-Specific Training in Tennis or Golf

Mastering the skills and techniques you’ll learn in Year 3 of the Academy will be a challenge, but when you do, you’ll be able to coach clients with spinal pathologies to health, and train elite/amateur athletes to reach and surpass their performance goals.

October 2015

Each student will receive the e-learning correspondence course Swiss Ball Training.

Swiss Ball Training: Developed by Paul Chek, the pioneer of Swiss Ball training for athletes, this course will teach you how to use this excellent tool to improve balance, posture and dynamic strength, plus train righting and tilting reactions. Used in rehabilitation since the 1960’s, Swiss balls are now becoming popular in training environments. There are literally hundreds of uses beyond performing a crunch over the ball! However, as with any training tool correct usage is essential to achieve the results you are seeking.

Meet Your Mentor: Students will also be assigned to their personal CHEK Mentor and have an introductory one-hour call with them. The student and mentor will have a one-hour call on a monthly basis. The mentor’s role is to support the student throughout the year, guiding them through the learning material and helping them to achieve learning milestones comfortably.

November 2015

Each student will receive Advanced Swiss Ball Training for Rehabilitation.

Advanced Swiss Ball Training for Rehabilitation: This course shows you how to apply the science of biomechanics and kinesiology to advanced assessments and functional training techniques using the Swiss ball. Paul shows you how to use the Swiss Ball for rehabilitation and injury prevention. You will learn how to identify postural problems and instabilities using Swiss ball assessments. After completing the course, you will be able to develop these assessments into corrective exercises, with appropriate modifications for the condition and training level of your client.

December 2015

Webinar Workshop #1 – Anatomy / Medical terminology and an Introduction to Reading Imaging Reports

Saturday December 5, 2015
10:30am – 6pm

Sunday December 6, 2015
8am – 3pm

This 2-day workshop has 3 main topics: Refresh anatomy, and then study, at a much deeper level, the functional anatomy of the spine in preparation for C.H.E.K Practitioner Level 2.

On completion of C.H.E.K Practitioner Level 2, many practitioners start to work alongside Doctors and Orthopedic Consultants so knowing the medical terminology is essential. In order to work closely with other specialists or with your clients alone, you will have to understand key points from imaging reports such as X-Rays and MRI scans.

We show students how to read reports and show common areas of interest in scans.

January 2016

Each student will receive Dynamic Medicine Ball Training.

Dynamic Medicine Ball Training: Medicine Balls can be used for a wide range of purposes from rehabilitation to explosive training or endurance training. Due to the dynamic capabilities of Medicine Ball Training, there is a high functional carry over into athletic performance and every day life. Paul Chek’s course teaches the science and application of medicine balls including program design for optimal performance, including criteria for choosing repetitions, sets, intensity, rest periods and speed of movement. Medicine Ball Training provides excellent variety in movement patterns, speed of movement, functional eccentric loading and adds an excellent dimension to the programs of any personal trainer, athlete, and athletic trainer and/or strength coach.

Q: Can I complete all my training in the first few months and pay it off over a year?
