I am an Athlete, Holistic Health Practitioner, Medicine Man, Neuromuscular Therapist, Clinical Exercise Specialist and Founder of the CHEK Institute in California. My mission is to educate health professionals to treat the body-mind as a whole system.
Prior to opening up the CHEK Institute I worked in a small clinic where people knew me as the “last resort.”
I earned this reputation because my practice was made up mostly of clients that were regarded as problem cases by other health professionals (doctors, chiropractors, osteopaths, etc.) who could not help their patients.
What I was offering wasn’t something supernatural. I simply had the perspective, knowledge and the tools to address their clients’ issues from angles that university-trained experts weren’t aware of.
How did I gain that perspective, knowledge and tools?
I busted my ass to learn what I know now. I flew around the world for high-ticket workshops. I worked without pay for masters in their respective fields, and I tracked down rare books to read.
Then, I worked tirelessly on piecing everything together so they could work practically in a viable system.
Ultimately, I recognized that I am only one person and didn’t have the bandwidth to heal everyone. If I was going to make a big change in the way we approached health and performance I needed to start teaching other people what I had learned – that’s when I decided to open the doors of The CHEK Institute. It was 1996.
